Bottle Neck Cutting Machine

Bottle Finishing · LONGSN bottle packaging machinery

Neck cutting and trimming machines for extrusion blow moulded PE, HDPE and PP bottles and jerry cans — the moulded dome above the neck is cut away to leave a smooth, burr-free mouth.

About This Category

What Bottle Neck Cutting Machines Do

Extrusion blow moulded containers leave the mould with a closed dome or flash above the neck ring. LONGSN neck cutting machines locate the bottle, cut the dome off in one pass and remove the burr, so the mouth is ready for capping. Servo rotary models such as the LSN-CTL1 run at 20 to 30 bottles per minute with soft cutting for smooth edges; several models combine neck cutting and leak testing in a single frame.

The machines can be connected to an existing blow moulding line by conveyor or run as stand-alone units, and are used for plastic bottles, cans, cups, medicine and daily-chemical containers in PP, PE, PVC, PET and PC.

Why This Cut Matters

The Cut Face Is the Sealing Face

Neck cutting looks like a trimming job. It is actually the moment the sealing surface of the finished product is made.

Where the trim comes from on a blown container

  1. Blown with a closed mouth

An extrusion blow moulded bottle or jerry can cannot be blown with its mouth open. The mould closes above the neck ring, so every PE, HDPE and PP container leaves the blow moulder with a closed dome of process material standing where the opening should be.

  2. Held by the neck ring

The neck cutting machine locates each container by its neck ring.

  3. Cut in one pass

The cutter takes the dome off in one pass and removes the burr, leaving an even, open mouth.

Four Cuts Compared: One Pass, Three Rejects

CutWhat the rim looks likeWhat happens under the capVerdict
Clean square cut The rim face is flat and parallel to the neck ring. The liner seats flush and the seal holds for the shelf life. Pass
Burr on the rim A raised burr props the liner off the face. Product seeps past the high point, which is the classic leak complaint. Reject
Angled cut The face is out of parallel with the neck ring. Cap torque lands on one side, so the seal is tight there, weak opposite and leaking at random. Reject
Torn, serrated edge A ragged, torn rim. It sheds plastic dust into an empty bottle that is about to be filled, and no cap can fix that contamination. Reject

Bottle Neck Cutting Machine FAQ

What buyers ask about our bottle neck cutting machines. Warranty and delivery terms are on the FAQ page.

What is a bottle neck cutting machine?

A bottle neck cutting machine cuts the closed dome or flash above the neck ring of an extrusion blow moulded bottle or jerry can. The mouth is then smooth and ready for a cap. LONGSN machines run in line after the blow moulder.

How does a bottle neck cutting machine work?

The machine locates the bottle, cuts the dome off in one pass and removes the burr. It can take bottles from the blow moulder by conveyor or run on its own. The servo rotary LSN-CTL1 cuts 20 to 30 bottles per minute.

Why do HDPE and PP blow moulded bottles need neck cutting?

Extrusion blow moulded PE, HDPE and PP bottles leave the mould with a process dome that closes the mouth. That dome is cut away at the neck ring so the cut face can seal under the cap.

What bottles can a LONGSN neck cutting machine handle?

PE, HDPE and PP bottles and jerry cans from 1 ml to 50 L, depending on the model. The same machines are also used on PVC, PET and PC bottles, cans, cups and daily-chemical containers.

Can a bottle neck cutting machine also leak test?

Yes. LSN-CL2 and LSN-TL1 cut or trim the neck and then leak test each bottle in the same frame. Bottles that fail the test are rejected.
